During post-production there were some difficulties and some positive aspects.
Difficulties:
During the Post-production the difficulties were updating the blog every single time we finished one thing on the list. Having to keep reminding and writing the things up on the blog was really annoying. Another thing that really got to me was when the files got corrupted or unsaved or even deleted by accident. This helped me to realise that in the future saving files frequently would be really helpful. During the Post-production our group had some problems as to handing the shots to one and another. I also had damaged my USB which therefore didn’t help me at all. The most annoying thing that really got to me was the EDL. Writing all my Edits into a piece of paper and explaining it all of what shot it was and what time it started and stopped. This had frustrated me the most as it was time consuming and very boring.
Positive Aspect:
Setting the Difficulties aside there were a few positive aspect overall. For example learning from my mistakes and using them in the future not only for creative media but also other subjects. One of them was managing my time well. I started off doing everything the night before and not getting the high quality that I was aiming for, but with the post-production and the reflection entries, I had managed to keep my times under control. Also the reflection entries has helped me in the right direction as it kept reminding me where I was with my work and also what was going on with my work. The EDL, even though it was frustrating it was helpful as it gave me the exact time that I needed for my film to be a finished film.
Therefore, post-production has helped me to understand better of what directors do before they actually release the actual movie. I have learnt how to work final cut and also to utilize my time properly and lastly, I have learnt how to make a movie.
The movie that i am comparing and contrasting is the movie by Emilie Eid. The comparisons between the two movies are how her movie and my movie both are based on something that is surreal. For example, Emilie has a character who is an angel that gets shot in her dream and wakes up with a bullet hole in her head, whilst my movie is how a character is dead but still living in the real world trying to figure out what is going on. On the other hand, the storyline between the two movies were completely different. Emilie’s movie was about an angel waking up from a dream to realise that the dream she had in fact wasn’t a dream. My movie is about a girl getting murdered and not being able to let go of life and comes back to the real world as a spirit trying to figure out things about her and what had happened. Overall, I thought Emilie’s movie was really good but I think she could have maybe done the shots more naturally so it wasn’t too much of a close up. But other than that I think the movie was a success.
